How OLAK Began
Moulding minds, touching hearts and transforming lives.
The History
The year 1988 is significant in the history of OLAK. For it was then that Mr Rex Michael, the school’s first Headmaster who was not a De La Salle brother, first mooted the idea of establishing an alumni association. There had been till then, a couple of occasions when a La Salle Klang alumni association had been formed, but sadly, none of them lasted for very long. And so it was, that the then Mr Jeffrey Ng, and a core group of old boys from the Class of 1972 and 1974, took on the challenge posed by Mr Rex Michael.
In 1989, a pro-tem committee was formed to start work on formation of the association. The tireless efforts of that group of pioneer members were rewarded when on the 26 th of February 1991, the Old Lasallians Association Klang was officially registered as a duly established association under the Societies Act 1966.

Mission.
The objective of OLAK during its formation was that it should be a central rallying platform for all old boys of La Salle Klang to come together and be connected. But it was not just about being in touch. OLAK would prove to be of central importance in the preservation of the Lasallian spirit that burnt so strongly in the students of La Salle Klang who had the privilege to be taught by the De La Salle brothers themselves.
The mission was to keep alive amongst the younger generation of Lasallians the ethos that is best summed up in the school motto of “Lux Luceat Vobis”, which means “Let your light shine”. It is this spirit that probably explains why OLAK has lasted for over a quarter of a century and remains as strong as ever. Today, OLAK proudly stands strong as a significant bridge between the old boys and the school, as a conduit and channel for old boys who had received so much from La Salle to give back to their alma mater.
