12 Aug OLAK Klang Olympian Fun Run 2025
Event Overview
The OLAK Klang Olympian Fun Run 2025 is more than just a 5KM run and walk — it’s a movement to reignite the spirit of champions in Klang. Organized by the Old Lasallians Association Klang (OLAK), this event will take place on Sunday, 17 August 2025 at SMK La Salle Klang, uniting alumni, families, sports enthusiasts, and the wider Klang community in a day of fitness, camaraderie, and purpose.
The run will be officiated by former Olympian Dato’ Sri Shanmuganathan, Malaysia’s legendary three-time Olympic hockey player, alongside Olympian Zulkifli Abbas, celebrated for his outstanding contributions to Malaysian hockey. Their presence embodies the event’s goal of inspiring the next generation through real-life examples of discipline, dedication, and sporting excellence.
Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Every runner will receive an official jersey, medal, and goodie bag, making the experience both memorable and impactful.

Purpose of the Event
At its heart, this Fun Run is about creating equal opportunities in sports for Klang youth — especially those with talent and determination but lacking access to proper equipment, training, and platforms to excel.
The mission is simple but powerful:
* Identify and inspire future champions in schools, neighborhoods, and playgrounds across Klang.
* Break down barriers caused by financial limitations so that talent, not privilege, determines success.
* Preserve and reignite Klang’s sporting legacy, once home to iconic athletes such as:
* Late R. Arumugam – Legendary “Spiderman” goalkeeper.
* Mohd Rizal Tisin – Malaysia’s first cycling world medalist.
* Abdul Hadi Yahya, Fazly Mazlan, Harith Haiqal – National footballers.
Every step taken in this Fun Run helps fund sports access programs — from providing proper shoes and gear to organizing training clinics and mentorship sessions with experienced athletes.
This is not just about running; it’s about changing lives, empowering the next generation, and ensuring that when the next Klang-born athlete stands on the Olympic podium, the entire community can say, “We were part of that journey.”
